Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous experience?
No, all private climbs and courses are custom structured to meet your individual goals and abilities. If this is your first time climbing, we'll start with the basics to develop a foundation on which you can improve during future adventures. If a climb requires specific skills you may add on a prerequisite course to help you learn the necessary techniques.
What level of physical fitness do I need?
Climbing can be physically demanding, but the level of difficulty can easily be catered to your level of physical fitness. Splitter Alpine Adventures offers introductory climbs within a few minutes of casual hiking or a full day in a remote mountain setting. You will also receive training resources and specific advice to prepare you for your upcoming climb.
I want to climb with my kids, do you have age restrictions?
It’s always exciting to guide and instruct fellow adventurers of all ages. There is no age limit to having fun in the mountains and with plenty of terrain options we will work together to choose an activity appropriate to your family’s abilities.
What gear do I need?
Splitter Alpine Adventures provides a detailed equipment list for each trip to help you select the appropriate clothing and gear. All group equipment is provided, such as climbing rope, rock/snow/ice protection, anchor material, stove and fuel. All personal clothing, climbing gear, and camping gear is not provided. If rental gear is needed, please inform your guide of your specific needs in advance of the trip.
Should I tip my guide?
Any guide gratuity is greatly appreciated and is commensurate with your satisfaction of the trip. Guiding is a customer service industry, generally 10-25% of the trip cost is standard.
